What you can do with concrete these days is amazing. Cover almost any surface with
a thin overlay of new mortar. Color it. Stencil it. Make it look like marble or granite or flagstone.
Apply a satin finish. And presto ... that gray, once obscure concrete is suddenly a showroom floor.
To see
it is to love it. But the beauty of a coated floor is more than skin-deep. The longer you live with it, the more
you'll appreciate how easily it cleans and gleams ... how durable it is ... and resistant to staining. The true value
of an overlay is longevity.
The secret is having it applied correctly. If the concrete isn't well prepped, the
mortar won't stick. If it isn't textured right, it becomes tricky terrain. If a second-rate sealer is used, the
surface will yellow, fade and stain.
So do some research. Get a clear idea of what you want. Get
several bids. Ask for references and contact them. Get warranties in writing. Ask about imaging software
that lets you see your project beforehand.
